Mom-Top Ten

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. They’d love to share their lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

This year has gone by SO fast! I just can’t wrap my head around the fact that there are only 23 days left in 2015. As I look back at the year, I’m pleasantly surprised to find that I read a ton of new-to-me authors, authors who I’ve been meaning to read for years, which fits well with this week’s topic. This week’s topic is “Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015.” Now the only hard part of this is narrowing it down to only 10 😀 As always these are in no particular order and authors link to author page on the blog.

Top Ten New Favorite Authors in 2015

marissa-meyer

1. Marissa Meyer

I’ll be really honest…I was super-hesitant to read The Lunar ChroniclesI just wasn’t digging the whole cyborg Cinderella, but then I caved and I’m SO glad I did. I devoured this series and anxiously waited Winter‘s release and then read it in 4 days. This series is amazing and I’m so looking forward to her new series about the Queen of Hearts next year.

Sarah J Maas

2. Sarah J Maas

Believe it or not, I had not heard of Throne of Glass until last year around the release of Heir of Fire so this author just wasn’t on my radar. BUT as soon as she was I KNEW I had to read her series. I was right because Celaena is brilliant 😀 AND ACOTAR is just as good if not better than ToG, just my opinion 😉

ag-howard

3. A.G. Howard

Okay I LOVE all things Wonderland so when I first heard about her Splintered series I was intrigued. I wasn’t able to get my hands on the series until earlier this year around the same time as the release of the last book in the series (YAY me!!! No waiting between books!) I adore everything about this series and CANNOT wait to read more from this author.

jla

4. Jennifer L. Armentrout

Daemon….nuff said 😉 But seriously this author was a bit of a surprise favorite for me. I’ve had Obsidian on my Kindle for YEARS and just never had the urge to read it. I honestly thought I wouldn’t like it. But then this summer I decided to finally read it as a part of the COYER Summer Scavenger Hunt and OMG!!!! Daemon!!!! Who knew aliens would be SO awesome?! I can’t wait to read more of her stuff, specifically her Dark Elements series. It’s next on the TBR!

kiera-cass-author

5. Kiera Cass

This is another author that I picked up the first book in the series years ago and it was just sitting on my Kindle waiting to be read. Needless to say I DEVOURED The Selection series. I honestly kept putting it off because I’m not a fan of the Bachelor and those types of shows and this book is that….BUT I was SO wrong. It’s much more than that. I loved Cass’s writing, her characters, and the world she built. Can’t wait to read more of her stuff!

Marie-Lu

6. Marie Lu

What’s NOT to like about this author?! I started this year off by reading her book The Young Elites and absolutely fell in love with her writing style and the dark world she built. I have yet to read The Legend Trilogy but it’s on the top of my TBR pile.

victoria-aveyard

7. Victoria Aveyard

Her debut novel Red Queen is one of my favorites for 2015. That being said I’m excited to see where this author’s career goes and I CANNOT wait for Glass Sword!

claudia-gray

8. Claudia Gray

I’ve only read her new series Firebird but I’m in love! The world-building, the characters, her writing…all of it! She’s definitely a new favorite of mine!

sara-raasch

9. Sara Raasch

I picked up Snow Like Ashes at the beginning of the year and fell in love with this debut author! The world she’s created, Meira, Mather, Theron…I’m in love 😀 And while I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ice Like Fire I cannot wait for the conclusion of this series!

rosamund-hodge

10. Rosamund Hodge

I had Cruel Beauty sitting on my Kindle for a while and when I received an advanced copy of Crimson Bound I knew I needed to read it. I’m in love with this author’s dark and twisted fairy tales. She blends mythology and classic fairy tales so seamlessly…it’s perfection!! I can’t wait to read more from her 😀

Your Turn! What’s some of your favorite new-to-you authors from this last year?

    • I really enjoyed them! The author takes a lot of liberties with the original fairy tales which is why I think it worked so well. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did 🙂

I thought I was late to the Sarah J Maas bandwagon since I only started reading her books last year, but she’s been on a lot of people’s lists this week, so I guess I wasn’t as late starting read her books as I thought!
