Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together
Happy Tuesday y’all! It’s been a few weeks…erhm months since I’ve participated and I really like today’s topic. Today’s topic is “Books I Loved that Made Me Want More Books Like Them.” I am constantly falling in love with books that in turn make me seek out books like them. Below is a list of some of my favorites that I read because of another one in no particular order. Covers/titles link to Amazon/Goodreads/Blog. Recommendations are always appreciated 😉
Because of Twilight, I read Dead Until Dark.
Before college, I was a big reader. However all the required reading for classes sucked the joy out of reading for me. I read very little during that time, I call it the “dark years” for a reason 😉 When I started my first job, the last book of the Twilight saga was about to come out, and the nurse orienting me was doing a reread of the series. She sent me home with the first book, and well the rest is history. I spent the next year chasing down every vampire book I could find. One of my favorites from that time was Southern Vampire Mysteries, better known as True Blood.
Because of The Hunger Games, I read Matched.
After finding a renewed love for reading, I quickly found that I wanted to devour book after book. This one was recommended to me by a patient (I was a peds oncology nurse at the time) so I picked up a copy of the trilogy, and y’all I spent my weekend off with little sleep, reading them all. This began my love for dystopians.
Because of Angelfire, I read Angelfall.
I read Angelfire just before I started blogging through a Goodreads review group. I had never really cared for angel mythology stories before that one. It changed everything. I started reading more of them and finding just how much I enjoyed them. Angelfall is one of my top series, and I never would’ve read it without first reading Angelfire.
Because of Rhapsodic, I read Radiance.
Laura Thalassa is one of my all-time favorite authors. I have yet to read one of her books that I didn’t enjoy. In fact, I’m not sure I could pick a favorite because I’ve loved them all in one way or another. Radiance came to my attention by a recommendation in Thalassa’s reading/fan group on Facebook. And I’ve never been happier. I devoured this one and rank it up there with some of my other favorite books.
Because of Cinder, I read Splintered.
Cinder introduced me to the wonderful subgenre of retellings. Before reading it, I had only read a handful and most of those were contemporary romance. I honestly scoffed at the idea of a cyborg Cinderella. Y’all I was so naive. I have since devoured any and all retellings that come across my radar as fast as I can possible devour them. After Cinder, I grabbed Spintered and the rest as they say is history 😉

You’re making me so curious about Cinder!

It is so good! If you like sci-fi and retellings, I highly recommend it.
I loved Rhapsodic and I really need to read Radiance, I’ve heard great things about it!

It is so good! I hope you enjoy it when you read it ☺️
I loved Cinder and the rest of the Lunar Chronicles. I was so-so on Splintered; it was good, but Alice in Wonderland has always been a bit hit-or-miss for me.
If you loved Twilight, try Deborah Harkness’s All Souls Trilogy (if you haven’t read it already.)
