Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!
Happy Saturday y’all! I’m back and ready to continue my journey down the TBR hole this year. Before the new year began, I got inspired by a Lenore @ Celebrity Readers to create a NetGalley shelf for my arcs which took a few off my want to read shelf. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 313 books on it, my physical shelf and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them 😅). Want to join me?
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the blurbs of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more each time. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.
The Movie Version by Emma Wunsch
I can honestly say I do not remember adding this one to my TBR. It looks cute, but not really my kind of read. It’s about a brother and sister. The sister looks up to, maybe even idolizes older brother. But when he starts acting not himself, she decides to step up her game and find out what’s wrong with him. I’m afraid this one isn’t for me.
Verdict: GOES
I can totally see myself adding this one to my TBR. I am a sucker for rockstar romances. Don’t know why. I just am. I love that trope as well as movie star trope. I can’t explain it either. I just enjoy them. However I don’t remember adding this one. I’m on the fence. For now, I’ll remove it, but if any of you reading this has read it, please by all means tell my why I should read it…it won’t take much convincing for me to add it back 😂
Verdict: GOES
Duskfall by Christopher Husberg
This sounds like something my husband would read, not me. Don’t get me wrong. I like epic fantasies, but in small doses. I’m not sure this one is for me.
Verdict: GOES
The Beast is an Animal by Peternelle van Arsdale
So another book I don’t remember. 🤦🏼♀️😂 This one however looks amazing! And comes highly recommended. The blurb looks like something I would enjoy as well.
Verdict: STAYS
Of Beauty and Darkness by Peggy Martinez
I can see why this one was added after reading the blurb. This is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty with a dark twist: she’s also a grim reaper. I love that premise. Sadly this one is out of print and since I don’t have a copy and neither does my library…it goes.
Verdict: GOES
The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee
I cannot believe that I haven’t read this one yet. It has been on my TBR since I first heard about it, and I LOVE McGee’s American Royals series. I need to make this one a priority. Set in the future, compared to One of Us is Lying which was a top pick of mine last year, I need to read it asap.
Verdict: STAYS
The Flame and the Arrow by Emigh Cannaday
I remember purchasing this book way back in 2016 when one of the book groups I was in selected it to be our monthly book read. I’m no longer in the group, and I actually never read this one which makes me sad because it looks like something I would enjoy.
Verdict: STAYS
Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey
I added this one to my TBR and even purchased it after watching the first season of Expanse on Amazon. I love sci-fi in all forms. I can’t believe I haven’t gotten to this one yet. I even stopped watching the show because I wanted to read first 🤦🏼♀️
Verdict: STAYS
I added this one because I read some of the author’s older works (which she pulled from the market a while back) and loved. This one the author warned me was more horror than her previous, and I’m not much of a horror lover so I put it on the back burner. Now this one is no longer available 🙁
Verdict: GOES
Ignite and Endure by Sara B. Larson
I devoured the first book in this series, Defy. I have no excuse for not continuing the series other than just getting busy or not having the funds to do so at the time. That being said, I’ll stick to the rule I created for myself when I started this journey and keep book two on my list and remove book three for now.
Verdict: STAYS

i love the beast is an animal cover. i like tripping through my tbr too, eliminating those i know i won’t read. i have added almost every book i own, so it’s very close…though i won’t add books i don’t own. i have so many, i don’t think i will ever get through them all…
