Down the TBR Hole Meme

Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!

Happy Saturday y’all! Today, I’m continuing my journey down the TBR hole today. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 261 books on it; my physical shelf, my ARC shelf, and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them). Want to join me?

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the blurbs of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more each time. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.

Being Mary Bennet by J.C. Peterson

I know exactly how this book ended up on my TBR. I am a sucker for all things Austen, especially Pride & Prejudice. However, I’m not big into contemporary YA which is probably why it is still sitting on my TBR. For now, I think I’ll pass on this one.

Verdict: GOES

Wrath & Mercy by Jessica Rubinkowski

Reading the blurb, I know why this wound up on my TBR. I love Russian-inspired stories. Something about being in the cold tundra adds a bit of mystery and magic to the story. However, I don’t think I realized this was the second book in a series I haven’t read. SO rather than letting this one go, I’m replacing it with book, The Bright and the Pale.

Verdict: REPLACED

The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi

I devoured the first two books of this series so I’m not sure why I keep dragging my feet to read this one. I think I just don’t want it to end. I have a copy sitting on my shelves so one day maybe?

Verdict: STAYS

Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao

This book has been on my TBR since I finished the first book. It was supposed to have released last year, but was pushed back to this year. It comes out in December I believe. SO I will keep it for now.

Verdict: STAYS

The Dream Runners by Shveta Thakrar

I actually have an ARC of this book that I DNFed back before it was released. However, I think that had more to do with me than the book at the time. I’d like to give it another chance…one day.

Verdict: STAYS

Ten Rules for Faking It by Sophie Sullivan

I actually read the second book in this standalone romance series and liked it so much that I added this one to my TBR. One of these days I’ll get around to reading it….I hope 😅

Verdict: STAYS

Hunt the Stars by Jessie Mihalik

I have recently become obsessed with sci-fi’s that are set on ships and roaming the galaxy (or galaxies). I added this one after it was highly recommended to me. I also have an ebook copy that I was gifted so I will be reading this one soonish.

Verdict: STAYS

The Recovery Agent by Janet Evanovich

I love Evanovich. I’ve read a majority of her books with the exception of her romance standalones (though they are on my list to get to one of these days). This one sounds like a lot of fun so it stays.

Verdict: STAYS

Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter

I loved the first two books of this series, like devoured them in one sitting. I own the entire series at this point, and I’m thinking it would be a good spooky read to add to my October reading list. What do you think?

Verdict: STAYS

The Genesis Wars by Akemi Dawn Bowman

The first book in this series was just ok for me. And the longer it’s been since I’ve read it, the less desire I have to finish the series. I think I’m going to set this one free for now.

Verdict: GOES
