Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “Satisfying Book Series.” I love this topic so much, but it is going to be SO bad for my TBR 😂 I’m a series a binger, meaning I like to spend a week reading a finished series. Below are ten of my favorite completed series that just left me happy, in no particular order. As always, titles/covers link to blog review, Goodreads, or Amazon (affiliate).
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas: It should come as no surprise to anyone that this is one of my all-time favorite series. I’m currently re-reading/listening to this one, making it my 6th or 7th time all the way through. The attention to detail and the planning that went into this epic fantasy is, in my opinion, unmatched.
The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff: I love sci-fi, and this is unlike anything I’ve ever read/listened to. If you’ve only listened, I highly recommend grabbing a physical copy. There are so many details like redacted information, diagrams, and text messages. The story is told from audio clips, security camera footage, emails…you get the picture. It’s a fun read from start to finish.
Caraval by Stephanie Garber: Another fun read. I loved this YA romantasy series, and truly that’s what it is. High-stakes games, immortals, and magic keep you guessing right to the end. And the love interest is firmly in the morally gray area.
The Fallen World by Laura Thalassa: Thalassa is one of my all-time favorite authors. I had a hard time choosing just one of her series to include because none of them have let me down. This series is a dystopian romance set a few hundred years in the future after nuclear war has left the world decimated and the eastern hemisphere ruled by an evil dictator. To deliver a truce, the Western countries offer a woman in marriage, but it is all a ruse. Her mission is to assassinate him. Seriously, go read it because my description doesn’t do it justice.
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco: I loved this series. I read it last fall and devoured them. The story focuses on one young woman who wants to follow in her uncle’s footsteps as a medical examiner, but women aren’t allowed to study so he teaches her in private with one of his other students. Together, they traverse the globe encountering and solving gruesome murders. It’s part horror, part murder mystery and such a good read.
Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi: One of my all-time favorite dystopians. I love this series. It’s a fascinating blend of fantasy and sci-fi. The world is ending, the skies are deadly, and the remaining survivors need to find a new home. Rossi blends romance and what it means to be young into the story as well. The first three are the main trilogy with Roar of the Tides being a sequel based on a favorite character. Highly recommend!
The Harbinger by Jennifer L. Armentrout: This is a sequel series to Armentrout’s Dark Elements series featuring Zayne and Trinity. There are angels and demons and gargoyle-shifters embroiled in what could become all-out war. In the midst of it though, there is always time for romance. I loved this one. It’s fast-paced, will make you feel all the emotions, and leave you with a gigantic grin on your face. It isn’t necessary to read Dark Elements first (I didn’t read it until after I finished this series because I didn’t know any better), but I do recommend it.
Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade: This romantic comedy series features a different couple in each book that are all related to a hit (fictional) TV show, reminiscent to Game of Thrones. These books are such fun reads. Each couple brings a different element to the books, and the author handles it well. I honestly can’t pick a favorite from these because I loved them all.
The Wrath & the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh: One of my favorite duologies. I read these books in a weekend a few years ago and still think about them. One of my favorite tales from Arabian Nights is the story of Scheherazade, or Shahrazad as she is in this book. I fell in love with Ahdieh’s storytelling and her take on the classic tale. Highly recommend it.
New Bloods Trilogy by Michelle Bryan: This was Bryan’s debut series, and it is fantastic. It’s a mix of dystopian and sci-fi/fantasy, like X-Men meets the end of the world. It’s fast-paced with compelling characters and exciting adventures. Honestly, writing this I’m thinking it’s time for a re-read. Highly recommend it!

I’m also currently re-reading Throne of Glass and I can only agree it’s such an amazing series! I also loved Under The Never Sky, but it’s been so long I’m due for a re-read there too 🙂

The Wrath and the Dawn was so good. I wonder why I never read the second book in the series. Hmm. So many books, so little time.

Harbinger is SO underrated! I wanted to add TOG but that would have been too easy for me LOL.

I really enjoyed Maniscalco’s series. It isn’t my typical read, but it was so well written.
OOh nice picks! Seeing some faves here too, and not just Caraval! Lol. Loved the Stalking Jack the Ripper series (obviously, lol), The Wrath and the Dawn, The Illuminae Files, Under the Never Sky, and the Harbringer trilogy! Great picks all around!

I feel odd because, though I’ve seen the first three series you listed everywhere, I’ve never tried any of the three!

Great list! I realised after I posted that I completely forgot about the Illuminae Files! That’s one of my favourite series to this day. It’s so good and hits me hard in the feels! I also really enjoyed Caraval and ToG but I haven’t finished both series (only have the last books left) but at this point, I feel like a full re-read would be in order 🤭 I’m also super keen to check out Dade’s series. I’ve heard so many good things about her books!
