Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Happy Tuesday y’all! With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, I think you will enjoy this week’s topic: “Love Freebie.” Since it is a love-themed freebie, I thought I would share with you all my some of my favorite couples from a genre I don’t typically read — contemporary romance. Titles/covers link to Blog/Goodreads/Amazon(aff). As always these are in no particular order.
My Ten Favorite Couples in Contemporary Romance
Colton and Rylee from Driven by K. Bromberg: So I don’t typically read erotica or anything resembling it. For me I’d rather that part of the story be left to my brain to fill in the gaps. I don’t need to know every moan and orifice used. But that’s me. That being said, Driven was an Amazon recommendation that I wound up devouring. While it is firmly in the erotica category, I feel like it is one of those that actually has a story line aside from sex. It deals with childhood abuse, grief, and PTSD in such a way that had me ugly crying through parts of the series. I ached and rooted for this coupe through out the trilogy and will admit that I have read the trilogy more than once…..ok, more than three times 😉
Brian and Ella from Cinder & Ella by Kelly Oram: My most favorite book ever!!! Every time I read this book, doesn’t matter that I’ve read it 10 gazillion times, I find myself with a giant goofy grin, swooning over Brian, and wishing I could hear Ella say “car.” This is one of those books that I just LOVE and own a paperback, ebook, and audiobook copy of. And yes, they are frequently read. Basically anytime I need a mood-lift.
Chase and Zoe from #Starstruck by Sariah Wilson: I read this book last month but it definitely deserves a spot on the list. It was just the right amount of angst and swoon. I loved Chase and Zoe and rooted for them right from the start. I liked that his stardom didn’t really affect him. He was down-to-earth and Zoe was inwardly fangirling while trying to keep a cool persona. She is living every teen girl’s fantasy in this book and it is written perfectly!
Jethro and Sienna from Grin and Beard It by Penny Reid: Jethro may not be my favorite Winston, but his story is my favorite. I adore Sienna. She is a firecracker, and I think I loved her even more getting to see her through Jethro’s eyes. I loved that the author made it so Jethro had no clue who this star studded actress was. It made for perfect irony as she falls for him and he for her. Plus it is hilarious!
Oakley and Vaughn from When It’s Real by Erin Watt: Another star-filled read. This is more the girl next door meets bad boy rock star and is tasked with cleaning up his image. I’ll admit I fell for these two HARD! The chemistry oozed off the pages and I found myself rooting for Vaughn and hurting for Oakley.
Tristan and Elle from Distraction by Angela McPherson: I love the best friend trope in contemporary romance and this series is why. I fell hard for Tristan and Elle from the opening pages. Unrequited love, best friends, engagements, family drama, and chemistry that will set your Kindle on fire. Perfection!!
Kyle and Val from V is for Virgin by Kelly Oram: Why yes, another Kelly Oram book 😀 I cannot get enough of this author’s contemporary. She makes me smile every time. While this series is not Brian and Ella, it is super close, like photo finish close. Kyle is the bad boy rockstar who falls in love with Virgin Val who is ironically running a campaign for abstinence. I loved these two together. Chemistry off the charts and swoon-worthy, fall in love moments.
Tate and Casey from The Girl from Summer Hill by Jude Deveraux: Ironically this is the only Deveraux book I’ve read. However it made a huge impression. I loved these two characters. Plus who doesn’t enjoy a loose retelling of Austen’s Pride and Prejudice?
Morelli and Stephanie / Ranger and Stephanie from By the Numbers by Janet Evanovich: Ok, technically I haven’t read the last two books in this series so y’all don’t shoot me if things have changed. I honestly cannot decide who I want Stephanie Plum to be with. Morelli is the safer choice. He’s a cop, a childhood crush turned lover. Then there’s Ranger who I’ll admit I’ve shipped from day one. He’s dangerous, a bounty hunter like Stephanie, and he pushes her out of her comfort zone all while keeping her safe. I love the chemistry among the couples and I just can’t decide. Maybe one day Evanovich will 😉
Chad and Lizzie from My Own Mr. Darcy by Karey White: Another loose retelling of the classic Pride and Prejudice and a little fangirling from the 2005 movie. I absolutely adored this book. It’s an easy read and achingly sweet. To be honest, this one needs to be a Hallmark movie, but only if Matthew MacFayden would agree to play Matt Dawson.

I learned something about myself in doing this post. I apparently love the Hollywood/famous couple trope. Colton is a famous racecar driver. Brian is a movie star as is Chase, Sienna, and Tate. Oakley and Kyle are the bad boy rockstars. SO what books would you recommend with this trope? I think I need to read some more 😀
As much as I am Team Ranger, I love Stephanie with Morelli too. I don’t know how Evanovich is gonna choose!
I know! I love them both. I think whenever she is ready to end the series maybe Stephanie needs a new man since she can’t decide between them either 😉
I hadn’t heard of any of these books, but I like the cover for V is for Virgin.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

Oh yes!! Definitely agree for Brian and Ella and Jethro and Sienna!! I have #Starstruck and When It’s Real on my TBR as well!
I would have picked Avery and Grayson over Val and Kyle, but that’s just a personal taste thing. Avery is my fave KO book.
I totes LOVE celebrity romances!! I recommend If Ever by Angie Stanton, The Feeling of Forever by Jamie Howard, One True Pairing by Cathy Yardley, Unmaking Hunter Kennedy by Anne Eliot, The Secret Life of a Dream Girl by Tracy Deebs, Bulletproof by Melissa Pearl and The Fifteenth Minute by Sarina Bowen.
