Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together
Happy Tuesday y’all! This week’s topic is “New-to-Me Authors I Read In 2018.” I love reading new authors. I love it even more when I find a new favorite 😀 2018 wasn’t the best reading year for me. In fact I didn’t even read 10 new authors. I mostly read favorites and authors I’d previously read in the hopes it would spark my love of reading. So I’m going to put my own spin on this week’s topic. I’m going to list my favorite authors/reads of 2018. I don’t think I’ve done that yet 😉 As always, covers/titles link to Blog/Goodreads/Amazon(aff) and are in no particular order.
Top Ten Authors/Reads of 2018
Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas: So I attribute my poor reading at the end of 2018 to this beast. I had the worst book hangover EVER after finishing. I still haven’t brought myself to write a review. I loved it, it was perfection. Any words I have to say about the book would feel inadequate.
The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I was beyond excited when I learned that JLA was releasing a new series set in the Lux world AND that it featured Luc. It lived up to all my expectations and I cannot wait for more.
Strain of Vengeance by Michelle Bryan: This book about broke me. First I love this series, I love the author even more. It was a perfect conclusion to the Bixby’s story, and in the span of about five minutes I went from weeping to smiling to weeping again. It’s an intense, suspenseful read. And y’all!!!! There’s gonna be one more book *SQUEE*
Broken Kei by Jen Wylie: I waited four years for this book, for this series to continue. WORTH. EVERY. WORD!!!! The Broken Ones is one of my favorite fantasy series, and this book didn’t disappoint. There’s one left in the series and I’m on pins and needles. If I have to wait another four years, I will happily. Because it is worth it 😀
The Serpent by Sarah Fine: A new series from one of my favorite authors always makes me happy. This one is interesting concept too, unlike anything I’ve read in a while (which is a feat because I read a lot!). Basically think of a cross between magic and tarot cards.
Sandpiper Shore by Debbie Mason: I love this series! Harmony Harbor is a small town where everyone knows you and your business which makes each installment a fun read. This one was cute and has a Cinderella-esque storyline.
Legendary by Stephanie Garber: I read this over the summer. It’s also a reason I suffered reading because of the massive book hangover it left me with. It’s fantastic. Garber’s imagery is vivid, it’s like the movie playing in your head while you read. It’s perfect! And I cannot wait for Finale this May.
Perfectly Misunderstood by Robin Daniels: This was the final book in Daniels debut series. Each book featured a different couple and could be read as a standalone. I loved this one. It was a sweet story that reminded me a little of a modern day Pride and Prejudice.
Pestilence by Laura Thalassa: I swear I’d read anything this woman writes. In fact, I’ve read all of her books to date and they are all fantastic reads. I can’t pick a favorite, so don’t ask me too. This book though, I’ll admit I was worried when I started it. It’s darker than her usual (and that’s saying something, especially if you’ve read her Fallen World series). But seriously, who knew pestilence could be so sexy?!
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor: This book is amazing! The imagery, the storytelling, world-building….all of it was perfect. I fell into this world and didn’t want the story to end. And when it did….the hangover!!! I need to pick up the sequel as it came out this fall. I just need to work myself up into reading it 😉

I haven’t read any of these authors. I’m glad you found and loved them, though! I hope you have a better reading year in 2019 and find more authors/books to love.
Happy TTT!

So many good titles/authors on here! I had a hangover after reading “Legendary” myself. Also, I’ve just remembered that I need to get to Strange the Dreamer. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it!
