Down The TBR Hole is a meme originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there. Lia is no longer blogging, so Jody @ I’m Into Books has taken over. Be sure to join the linky on her site!
Happy Saturday y’all! I missed posting last month because we started our homeschool year, but I’m back and ready to continue my journey down the TBR hole today. As of writing this post, my current Goodreads TBR shelf has 296 books on it; my physical shelf, my ARC shelf, and Kindle TBR shelf have more than I care to share at this time (mainly because I don’t want to count them). Want to join me?
It works like this:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly (or monthly like me), you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the blurbs of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
I will only being doing this once a month, typically the first Saturday. And I’m probably going to do 10 or more each time. I’m starting with my Goodreads TBR. I’d like to leave only books I plan to read on there and remove all the others. I started this journey on a TTT post. You can follow the journey here: Down the TBR Hole.
My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, & Jodi Meadows
I absolutely loved the first book of this historical satire series and immediately added book two to my TBR as soon as I knew there would be more. I’m sad to say that I haven’t picked the series back up. I need to rectify that asap!
Verdict: STAYS
Honor Among Thieves by Rachel Caine & Ann Aguirre
I love Rachel Caine and have read most everything she’s written. When I saw she had written a sci-fi, I bought the entire series without knowing anything about it. Now I just need to make time to read it 😅
Verdict: STAYS
A Heart Revealed by Josi S. Kilpack
I have no idea why or how this one wound up on my TBR. I like the occasional historical romance so maybe that’s it. Reading the blurb didn’t trigger my memory, like I have no memory of this book at all. So not sure it’s staying.
Verdict: GOES
The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
I’m kinda mad at myself for this one. It looks and sounds amazing. I have a hardcopy and kindle copy just sitting there waiting for me. I love a good fantasy novel, and this one has the reviews to get my hopes up high.
Verdict: STAYS
A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet
I added this one to my TBR a long time ago, around the time the book was released. The cover has since changed and makes me want to read it ASAP. Have you read it? I’m on the fence. It sounds like an amazing fantasy I can get lost in, but at the same time I’m not sure I’m ready to get lost in an all-consuming fantasy world either….
Verdict: STAYS
Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
This one isn’t going anywhere. I loved book one! I own it in multiple copies. I just need to carve out some time to binge read them.
Verdict: STAYS
Chosen by Grace by Alicia Rades
I’m on the fence with this one. I love urban fantasy novels, and I also love supporting indie authors. It has great reviews so I have no doubt about its quality. I’m just not a big demons/angels genre reader. I don’t enjoy them….I think this one will go. However it won’t take much convincing for me to re-add it 😉
Verdict: GOES
Embers of War by Gareth L. Powell
I don’t remember adding this one to my TBR pile, however looking at the dates I can tell you it was around the time I discovered my love of space operas. This one sounds absolutely amazing. Even though I forgot it, I think I’ll keep it around.
Verdict: STAYS
One More Round by Lauren Helms
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good contemporary romance. Sprinkle in some of my other favorite hobbies like gaming and I am sold. I read the first book of this series, and while I enjoyed it, I’m not sure it was enough to continue….
Verdict: GOES
I really enjoy this author’s other books which is how this one wound up on my TBR. Why I haven’t read it yet is beyond me. Moving this up on the priority list…
Verdict: STAYS
