2016 Reading Challenges: 1st Quarter Updates

Posted March 31, 2016 by Lillian in Challenges / 2 Comments

Wow!!! The first quarter went by SO fast. I can’t believe it’s already over. I’ve done very well with my challenges so far this year. I’ve actually already met my goal for the New Release challenge, almost completed the Dystopia challenge AND I’ve stayed caught up on the other two. Not too shabby if I say so myself 😉

2016 Reading Assignment Challenge

2016HWLogoButton

For this challenge, you create a list of books that you commit to read throughout the year. You determine the number of books you will read per month and choose books from your list to read. It is hosted by Berls @ Fantasy is more fun and Michelle @ Because Reading. You can sign up anytime, but can only start the challenge for the month after you sign up (ex. if you sign up in Feb, you cannot count books read in January).

My Goals and Progress

My goal is to read 2 books a month (Reading Level 2) from the following list:

2016HWbooks

2016 New Release Challenge

New-Release-Challenge2016-450x4501-300x300

This challenge is all about the new books of the year and of course reading them 😀 It is hosted by Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews. Oh My! and Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews.

My Goals & Progress

There are four levels in this challenge and I’m going for the 2nd level New Release Pro, which is 16-30 books. I think this is doable. I’m not sure of the actual number of new releases I read in 2015, but I know it was a good number, possibly more than 30 😉 During the 1st quarter, I read 25 books and reviewed 22 already! Here’s the books I’ve reviewed so far:

  2. Indestructible by Emma L. Adams

2016 Blogger Shame Review Challenge

Blogger Shame

This challenge is for people like me, who have been blogging a while or life got busy and books got forgotten. I fall in the later. 2015 was not a good year for us and everything suffered. I’m ashamed to say that I have roughly 45 ARCs on my Kindle and another 3 or 4 hardcopies lying around to be read. Now not all of those qualify for this challenge, but several do. This challenge is hosted by herding cats & burning soup and Addicted to Happily Ever After.

My Goals & Progress

My goal is to read at least one old review book a month for a total of 12 by the end of the year. With this challenge I hope to get my Netgalley ratio above 80% which is doable. I’m currently sitting at 74% as I’ve had a lot of new books just added. Here are the books I’ve read during the 1st quarter:

  1. This is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
  2. Sarah Anne’s Expedient Marriage by Cathy Lynn Bryant, Jessica Marie Dorman
  3. Life by Rebecca Belliston
  4. Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop

2016 Dystopia Reading Challenge

I think I may be the most excited about this challenge hosted by Tracy @ Cornerfolds and Claudia @ My Soul Called Life. It is NO secret that I LOVE dystopians. It’s a majority of what I read each year. So this challenge is right up my alley!

My Goal

There are four levels to choose from on this challenge and I’m going ALL IN!

  1. Indestructible by Emma L. Adams
  2. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
  3. Cruel Crown by Victoria Aveyard
  4. Life by Rebecca Belliston
  5. Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
  6. ARV-3 by Cameo Renae
  7. Strain of Resistance by Michelle Bryan
  8. Stars Above by Marissa Meyer
  9. Water & Storm Country by David Estes
  10. Happily Ever After by Kiera Cass
  11. Dead of Winter by Kresley Cole
