I cannot believe it is August already?! Where did July go?! This month was a good month! I became an aunt again x2 and little man I got down to see family twice before the month was up.
I read 17 books this month!! And I completed my Goodreads challenge of reading 100 books this year 😀 What have you read this month?
Favorite July Read
I couldn’t pick just one book this month! I took the plunge and read two books that I’ve owned for a couple of years now. Needless to say I LOVED them!!! The Selection while not my normal dystopian read was still a great read! It had all the elements I love AND hate in YA fiction yet they balanced each other nicely. Obsidian just sucked me in!! I couldn’t get enough of it! In fact, I lucked out! BookOutlet(dot)com is has the Lux series on sale. I was able to get them all for just 5 dollars 😀 I predict binge reading in my near future 😉
Favorite July Quote
“I’ve always found that the most beautiful people, truly beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly unaware of their effect….The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It’s just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.” ~from Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

With the year a little more than halfway over, I couldn’t resist bringing a little holiday cheer to the summer. This Week’s Book Fix
What are you looking forward to in August?
I am both dreading and looking forward to this month! Little man starts school in one week 🙁 We go for orientation this week and I’m so not ready for this! I’m going to be a basket case when he starts Kindergarten if this is how I’m handling pre-K!!
Besides that I’ve got a lot of work I’m doing on a possible start-up business. I’m looking to bring in a little money working from home and doing what I love all at the same time 😀 Yes people I know it’s hard to imagine, but I do have other loves besides books! I’ll share at the end of the month if all goes according to plan 😉
Since I’ve finished my Goodreads challenge 4 months early, I plan to focus on reading my review copies and catching up on some older books that I never got the chance to read. What do you plan to do this month? Any good books lined up?
you got great books! The selection, Ink and Bone, A Court of Thorns and Roses, the Assassin blade! I’ll be subscribing. Don’t want to miss those reviews 🙂

Wow! You had a busy month! And I can’t believe you’ve finished your GR challenge so early. I didn’t actually set a goal this year…
And I hope all goes well with getting your son to school. I’m sure you’ll (both) be fine!

The Selection keeps popping up on my radar, maybe that’s a sign … aw your wee man will be fine, and so will you. Have a great week 🙂

Congrats on becoming an aunt again, times 2! I’m glad you and little man got to see the family twice in July, I’m sure that was both fun and lovely for both you and the rest of the family.
I’m glad you enjoyed Obsidian so much, Lillian, I had some problems with it, but will still continue with the series, because the writing is so good 🙂
Good luck with your plans for a start-up, I hope it pans out the way you want it to.
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

I am so jealous you read 100 books and finished your goal! That’s awesome! Congrats.
Is his kindergarten all day? I still can’t believe I have one in 5th grade and one in 2nd. These babies grow up way to fast.
I need to finish A.G. Howards books, I enjoyed the first one and have been wondering what happened. Looking forward to seeing what you think of them.
I hope you have a great week, Lillian! Happy Reading! ox

I was struck by the quote you shared. I heard much the same about a friend at her memorial service yesterday so I think Jennifer has the right of it.

Wow, it sounds like you’ve had a really productive month! Like you, I’m both anticipating and dreading August. I go back to work in a coup,e of weeks, and have mixed feelings about my new students. The incoming class is the toughest (behavior wise) in the school, I should know. I taught them when they were 3rd graders. At the same time I’m excited to begin a new year. Plus, my birthday is this month.
I’ve also reached my reading challenge goals. I’ve reset them to be higher, but I’ve about reached them again. After I do, I’m going to leave well enough alone and start purging my iPad. Trying to put a hold on new book purchases until I do.
Sounds like you’ve got a lot planned this month. Look forward to reading all about it.

I love the covers that are on those books. They are all so different! Your the 2nd blogger I have seen that their child goes to school next week. The kids where I am from don’t go to school till the 1st of Sept. I homeschool my son so I kinda get to choose when he starts. But, he’ll start on the 1st.
I hope you have a great week!

Lots of great books to read, I hope you enjoy them.
My pair’s school term starts again in two weeks time, I am so looking forward to them going back but I still remember their first days at school, so small!
